What are these programs and what do they mean? It means helping by providing opportunities first to help people reconcile their lives with Christ. For example, divorce care is an opportunity to minister to those that are cast down as a result of divorce. Substance abuse programs help to counsel the addicted and help them get off the streets and clean up their lives. Financial assistance for those times where you just fall short and need a little help. Helping the elderly with simple things like getting to church, managing their finances, and things like just “reading that letter that comes in the mail”. Reaching the youth on their grounds, Snap Chat, Tic Tok, etc., to provide counseling and guidance.

¿Qué son estos programas y qué significan? Significa ayudar proporcionando primero oportunidades para ayudar a las personas a reconciliar sus vidas con Cristo. Por ejemplo, el cuidado del divorcio es una oportunidad para ministrar a aquellos que son abatidos como resultado del divorcio. Los programas de abuso de sustancias ayudan a aconsejar a los adictos y les ayudan a salir de las calles y limpiar sus vidas. Asistencia financiera para esos momentos en los que simplemente se queda corto y necesita un poco de ayuda. Ayudar a los ancianos con cosas simples como ir a la iglesia, administrar sus finanzas y cosas como simplemente “leer esa carta que llega por correo”. Every church should have a food and clothing program. Going beyond recycling. Too many times we have churches that want to “preach the word” but do not have food to give out or clothing. Hence, a permanent food pantry would be the most expedient.

Everyone has that “one unintended emergency” and sometime that means help to get that car up and running or bury that loved one. Hence, financial assistance to help pay that bill and keep the lights on are what deacons and support staff can help to assure if you need help you will get it. That includes things like Holiday Cheer for those without the funds to ensure the children have good holidays.

Programs like auto and home assistance help to make sure people are able to work and have a place to lay their head down. That includes emergency housing, a place to stay when your housing has been compromised.

These are just some of the ideals of the church. As in acts, everyone had everything in common and all their needs were met.
